Harbor Pines Golf Club
spares no expense in offering one
of the best groomed courses anywhere in Southern New Jersey.
The club is situated very conveniently on Ocean Heights Blvd. in
Egg Harbor Township off Exit 36 of the Garden State Parkway.
just a short 15 – 20 minute drive from Atlantic City’s beaches
and casinos.
Home grown designer Stephen Kay routed a fine layout through the
dense pines and around 17 acres of lakes. The course is the
epicenter of an upscale real estate project comprising some 6500
acres. On the mostly flat terrain, the course features huge
impeccably groomed bent grass greens with modest slopes, and
wide bent grass fairways. Water comes into play on no less than
eight holes and, though the bunkers are large, there is less
sand here than you might expect. On a layout measuring from
5,099 to a modest 6,827 yards from the tips, golfers of all
stripes can enjoy their rounds. This is a very modern course in
every sense of the word except it has no tricks. It is a
throwback to good old-fashioned "what you see is what you get"
golf. Five sets of tees testify that no level of golfer was left
out of the design plan.
The front side meanders through pristine pine forest and offers
some outstanding holes including my favorite, the almost 90
degree dogleg right 400-yard 4th. It is followed by a much
longer par 4 5th which doglegs right around a lake. The backside
features a very short par 4 requiring a water carry off the tee,
a brutishly long par 4 17th, and a short par 5 finishing hole
aimed at bringing smiles to all golfers. Harbor Pines
Golf Club offers an elegant
20,000-square foot clubhouse, excellent food, and fine
instruction at a top quality practice facility
»
Five sets of tees
enable golfers to enjoy the course at their own level of
challenge — from 5099 yards to 6827 yards. Tee areas are
unusually large offering the opportunity for varied tee
positions that lengthen or shorten the hole and provide
different playing angles. In addition, the large tees on all par
3’s prevent excessive wear in any one area and provide the
golfer consistent quality conditions.
»
12 ponds & 17 acres of water
strategically located to add a picturesque charm and a challenge
for every golfer. Only two ponds require a carry shot — most
run laterally along the fairways to heighten the challenge and
the beauty of the course without unfairly testing the average
golfer
»
Outstanding Course Conditions
Harbor Pines features generous fairways and short rough
reminiscent of Augusta National. The finest irrigation system
and course management program that exists in golf today is at
Harbor Pines. Wall-to-wall triple row sprinklers create
conditions that rank with the most prestigious courses in the
world.
»
Large undulating greens
offer opportunities for varied pin placements that add interest
and new challenge to every round. The average green size is in
excess of 6500 square feet.
»
Distinctive Memorable Bunkers
from the massive 170′ – long half-acre bunker that guards the
par-4 17th hole to "Sand Creek," the long ribbon-like bunker you
cross by bridge as you approach the par-5 7th.
»
Extremely well-marked for yardage…to
speed play. With your cooperation, rounds should take no more
than 4:15. Color-coded stakes along each fairway and fairway
disks are placed at 200, 150 and 100 yards from each green. In
addition, over 800 sprinkler heads are yardage-marked to assist
you in your shot selection.

Harbor Pines Golf Club is
truly one of the best conditioned golf courses in the Atlantic
City area. The Gurwicz family takes great pride in making sure
we have incredible playing conditions all season long.
This course is a very fare test of golf, I normally score one of
my lower rounds at Harbor Pines. (Watch out for # 9, it can bite
you.) We rate this one 4 stars for
it’s ease of play and always fantastic conditions. The club
house restaurant has excellent food (Jumbo lump crab cakes,
great daily soups etc) The bar always has a kind face to greet
you, the halfway house and beverage cart
also make for a convenient way to grab a bite to eat and
beverage or two. Have fun and play well, you will enjoy this one
and it may be your lowest round of the trip! |
