Atlantic City!
Boxing Comes to
Boardwalk Hall April 11, 2009 (Ballroom)
Mark your
calendar for April 11, 2009. Dee Lee Promotion and GNP Boxing has
announced that Philadelphia light middleweight superstar Derek “Pooh” Ennis (17-2-1/12
ko’s) will take on Baltimore’s Ismail “The Arsenal” Arvin (15-1-4/7 ko’s)
for the USBA Regional Junior Title in a 10 round Junior Middleweight war on
Saturday April 11, 2009. The hard punching Ennis is looking to overcome fellow
Philadelphian Anthony Thompson’s recent loss to “The Arsenal’ and take the belt
back to Philadelphia, "The City of Brotherly Love". The evening’s boxing card takes place in the
prestigious Ballroom at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. The first fight is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m,
Let the Games Begin!
The co feature
on the (9) nine bout boxing card features Camden’s Luis “Kid Duran” Burgos
(10-0-1/4ko’s) returning to the ring in his first comeback test after
recovering from an injury. Burgos was a
highly regarded welterweight prior to his ring hiatus and New Jersey boxing fans
will be anxious to see if he can pick up where he left off.
The bulk of
the under card has a direct connection to Atlantic City fighters, highlighted
by former 2008 Olympic Alternate and Pan American Bronze Medalist Qa’id “Kidd
Dynamite” Muhammad. Since turning pro, “Q”, is 4-0-0 with 4
KO's. Muhammad
is looking to keep the knockouts flowing and the undefeated record in tack.
Qa’id
Muhammad’s young gym mates, light heavyweight Lavarn Harvell (2-0-0),
and super middleweight Joel Delapaz (2-0-0/1 ko), join him on the fight
card. Other Atlantic City boxers, including Jacolyn Nicols, Eugene Soto, Art
Parker and William Porter, will make their pro-debuts on the
under card. Local fighters and and title fight all on one card, great for local
boxing fans.
Tickets go on
sale Wednesday, February 25 at noon and are priced at $55, $45, $35, and $20.
