Presented by Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa Atlantic City Hotels
(Atlantic City, NJ, January 7, 2009) -- The
Atlantic City Airshow “Thunder Over The Boardwalk” returns to Atlantic City
for a seventh year on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Greater Atlantic City
Chamber President Joseph Kelly made the announcement.
“I’m pleased to announce the Atlantic City Airshow is returning to the beach
and Boardwalk in 2009,” said Kelly. “Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa has already
agreed to return as the presenting sponsor, and the U.S. Air force
Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Golden Knights have both agreed to headline
the 2009 Airshow.”
“The Airshow has become the signature summer event for Atlantic City,” said
Jeffrey Vasser, president of the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors
Authority. “Last year’s show attracted an estimated 700,000 people. It will
be hard to top but 2009’s Airshow is sure to be just as successful.”
“Borgata is proud to return as presenting sponsor of the 2009 Atlantic City
Airshow ‘Thunder Over the Boardwalk’, said Dave Coskey, vice president of
marketing for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. “It’s a great community event that
gets more remarkable with each passing year.” Instrumental in bringing the
Airshow to Atlantic City seven years ago, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa
continues to support the Airshow by investing an excess of $300,000 in-kind
and cash in the event each year. Borgata is proud to host the Thunderbirds
and other Airshow performers each year, as well as provide transportation
and valuable room packages for visitors. The Atlantic City International
Airport (ACY) is the host airport for the Atlantic City Airshow. The
majority of airshow performers take off and land via ACY. The Atlantic City
Airshow takes place over the beach and Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
Along with performances and demonstrations by the U.S. Air Force
Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Golden Knights, past airshow demonstrations
and flybys have included the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, Air National Guard
and civilian acts. A full list of performers and a schedule of events will
be released at a later date.
