Twisted Dune Golf Club
is like no other golf course in
southern New Jersey. True to its name, Twisted Dune is a
links-style course of twisting landscapes, dramatic elevations
and rolling fairways that offer a challenging yet supremely
playable 18 holes carved on 200 acres in Egg Harbor Township NJ
just a short drive from Atlantic City.
Designer Archie Struthers moved 2 million cubic yards of earth
to bring his remarkable design to fruition, creating a true
taste of the Scottish Coast at the Jersey Shore. Deep ravines,
towering grass-covered sand hills and well over 100 bunkers make
Twisted Dune’s 7,200 yards among the most memorable in the
region.
Ranked #5 in Golfweek Magazine's
America's Best Courses for the state of New Jersey 2006
and in 2003, The New Jersey Golf Course Owners Association
honored Twisted Dune with the “Best New
Public Golf Course” award.
The course design features four par 5’s over 500 yards, 10 par
4’s and four par 3’s, including the remarkable 16th, which made
the Courier Post’s “Dream 18” in 2004. Though fescue and sand
are generous, so are the wide fairways, bent grass landing areas
and large greens. Twisted Dune offers a visually stunning golf
experience that rewards accuracy and course management, making
it enjoyable for golfers of every level. It’s the kind of course
serious golfers love to play again and again each time bringing
a new experience.

Twisted Dune Golf Club -
(Most people pronounce it Twisted Dunes) Let's just say "what a
golf course". The way the course was designed, you never
see another group the whole day. The rolling hills,
fescue, mounds and bunkers are pretty much everywhere, this is
what makes this course so unique, it doesn't match up with
terrain consistent with Southern New Jersey. The large fairways
and greens and the immaculate condition is what we love about
this course, we guarantee you will enjoy it. We rate this one as

Directions to Twisted Dune Golf Club
From North
- Garden State Parkway to Exit 36
(Northfield/Margate). Turn right onto Tilton Rd./CR-563 E. and
then right onto Fire Rd./CR-651. Turn right onto Mill
Rd./CR-662, proceed (approx. 4 miles) to stop sign. Turn left
onto Ocean Heights Ave. (559 Alt ) and proceed one mile to
entrance on your right.
From
Cape May and Points South -
Garden State Parkway North to Exit 36 (Northfield / Margate).
Turn right at the traffic signal onto Fire Rd./CR-651, go to
the 2nd traffic signal and Turn right onto Mill
Rd./CR-662, proceed (approx. 4 miles) to stop sign. Turn left
onto Ocean Heights Ave. (559 Alt ) and proceed one mile to
entrance on your right.
From
Philadelphia & Atlantic City
- Atlantic City Expressway to Exit 7 South
(Garden State Parkway), proceed to Exit 36 (Northfield /
Margate) . Turn right onto Tilton Rd./CR-563 and then right

In the tradition of Saint Anne’s Old
Links and other famous seaside courses in the British Islands,
Twisted Dune Golf Club is a first class links even though
it’s not on the ocean. Laid out through rolling sand dunes and
almost devoid of trees it’s easy to forget you are just minutes
away from the action in Atlantic City, and not tucked away deep
in the Scottish Highlands. The layout of Twisted Dune takes into
account the factor the wind will play on the course and allows
the player the option of running the ball up or flying it onto
the greens.
This tests the player’s ability with shots seldom called for on
ordinary courses. The bent grass turf that carpets each fairway
offers players the perfect firm surface from which to strike a
crisp approach. Sand dunes frame each of the generous fairways,
but will test both the players’ skill and temperament should his
ball find itself among them. Adding to the challenge on each
hole is a host of fiendish bunkers along with carnivorous waste
areas that wait to devour any ball that strays too far off line!
A fearsome 7,336 yards from the championship tees the course has
three sets of more manageable tees for the enjoyment of those
not quite up to the challenge of the PGA Tour. The large greens,
once reached, offer ample opportunity for birdies! With such
smooth rolling surfaces the player has no one but himself to
blame should the ball not fall into the cup.
Twisted Dune is a players club, one where every golfer
can enjoy the total golf experience. Tee times are further apart
than at traditional clubs and play will be limited to insure
each foursome rarely ever sees the people in front or behind
them. In short, Twisted Dune is a public golf course that looks
and feels like one of the world's finest private clubs, leaving
you with the memorable impression of having played and enjoyed a
special golfing experience. |
