The reason is simple: This is a first-class resort-style layout that will be almost impossible for you to find anywhere else for many miles around. Our courses were designed with five sets of tees to accommodate every level of player. Everyone from novice to seasoned veteran can experience the excitement of Sand Barrens. Sand Barrens is a must-play, 27 holes of pure bliss, that you need to experience for yourself. After you play one 18-hole combination, you’ll want to come back to play another. Our semi-private club is conveniently located between Avalon and Cape May, and we’re easily accessible off the Garden State Parkway. 	Where should I begin? From the awe inspiring clubhouse to 3 incredible nine hole layouts, Sand Barrens Golf Club truly is a gem at the Jersey Shore.  As referenced by it's name, there are plenty of sand traps and waste bunkers, you may want to work on your bunker play before you arrive.  I love the oversized greens, they're always soft, receptive & fast.  Just a short drive down the Garden State Parkway from Atlantic City and all other South Jersey shore points.  Check out the Awards & Recognitions below.

 

DIRECTIONS TO SAND BARRENS GOLF CLUB FROM PHILADELPHIA - Take Rt. 42 to the AC Expressway. Take Exit 7 South; proceed to the Garden State Parkway. Follow to Exit 13 (Avalon - Swainton). At the end of the exit ramp, make a right and proceed to first traffic light. Make a right onto Rt. 9 North. Travel 1/2 mile and course is on the left. FROM DELAWARE -Take the Delaware Memorial Bridge to Rt. 40 East to Rt. 55 South. Continue on Rt. 55 until the end. Take Rt. 47 or 347 South approx. 20 miles to Rt. 83. Turn left and follow Rt. 83 to Rt. 9. Turn right onto Rt. 9 South and travel 1 mile. Course is on the right. FROM NEW YORK & NORTHERN NEW JERSEY - Take the Garden State Parkway South to Exit 13 (Avalon-Swainton). At the end of the exit, turn right and proceed to first traffic light (Rt. 9). Turn right and travel 1/2 mile on Rt. 9 North. Course is on the left.

The courses are situated in the Pine Barrens, which is a sandy-based soil area. The layouts include twenty-five acres of sand surrounding the fairways, tee boxes and greens. The courses are visually intimidating with wide, flat fairways and several trees lining the course. The greens are large and undulating, making precise putting important to a good score. Alcohol is available for members only. The 6,260-yard men's tee for the South  & West Course also has a ladies' course rating of 75.3 and slope of 138. The 6,462-yard men's tee for the West & North Course also has a ladies' course rating of 76.6 and slope of 135. The 6,304-yard men's tee for the North & South Course also has a ladies' course rating of 75.7 and slope of 137. "GOLFWEEK" selected the South/West Course 95th among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses".
